Professor Gbekeloluwa Babatunde Oguntimein (1963 set) is a recipient of the 2023 GCIOBA National Merit Award.
He has been a mentor to many within the community and one of its major financial contributors. He has been a leader and contributor to various renovation programs within GCI and his wisdom has been invaluable to the branch on several occasions.
Prof. Oguntimein served as vice chair for GCIOBA North America for over six years and has attended almost every annual reunion since the inception of the branch. He is our ace wicket keeper during reunion cricket matches and recipient of several MVP awards. His high principles and discipline make him an inspiration to the entire GCI Alumni Community.
Just as his service to the North America GCI alumni community is legendary, his professional accomplishments in teaching and research are equally impressive.
Professor Oguntimein received his B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Chemical Engineering from Iowa State University in 1974 and 1979, respectively. He has over 40 years of teaching and research experience, having taught in the Department of Chemical Engineering, at Iowa State University, Ames Iowa, and the Department of Food Technology, at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria.
He is a QM-certified reviewer and QM-certified APPQMR facilitator and a Professional Engineer in Maryland, a Board-Certified environmental engineer, and a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers.
We congratulate Professor Oguntimein on this recognition and wish him the vigor to continue to serve in capacities that strengthen our alumni community and advance knowledge.
